Mmm, snow. by coyoteflutesong Mmm, snow. by coyoteflutesong
Caspian the cat was a stray when I first met him. The previous renters had just left him behind when they moved out, leaving him to fend for himself. By the time I moved in about four months later, the poor cat was severely emaciated and bedraggled, with a... digestive problem that made it impossible to allow him into the house and left his fur a filthy, matted mess.

Well, after a few weeks on a rice-and-ground-turkey diet, his "problem" cleared up enough that we could let him into the house. A few more months on dye-free catfood had him healthy enough that he started gaining some weight. He had a growth spurt almost immediately after I had him neutered, and his winter coat came in about the same time, making him look as though he'd doubled in size. Gone was the scraggly, filthy cat I'd found sleeping on my porch. In his place was a fat, fluffy, lovable kitty that nearly rivals Ghost in size. These days, Caspian (aka "Poopy") lives a cushy life as a feline model, more than happy to don whatever ridiculous costume I've brought home for him to wear so I can take pictures of him for greeting cards.

We just moved out of the house where we found Poopy and one of the first things the landlady asked us was "Did you take that one yellow cat with you?" She was apparently worried that since the previous renters had left him behind when they moved out, that I would do the same. I reassured her that once I take responsibility for and animal, I take that very seriously.

Poopy loves the new house, btw. Lots of room for him to wander around and mindlessly stare at table legs and heater vents.

LOL "stare at table legs and heater vents" He sounds like a smart cookie...

I am very pleased to hear you took him with you. If only everyone took pet ownership to the humane and resposible level you have. The world would be a better place!
